Agriturist Veneto

"Farmholidays in Veneto starts from Venice!"

Farm holidays (“agriturismo”) in the Veneto region are distributed amongst the provinces of Belluno, Rovigo, Treviso, Venice, Vicenza and Verona; renowned mountains like the Marmolada, the Pala group, the Tofane group; the eastern slope of the Dolomites, the Grappa and Asiago plateaus, the Lessinia Mountains and Monte Pasubio: the Belluno Dolomites National Park, which preserves over a quarter of the entire national floristic heritage. These few notes of ours barely touch on why Veneto can easily rival other Italian regions as far as farm stays immersed in culture and nature are concerned.

The region of Veneto is primarily known as home to the city of Venice, unique for its extraordinary combination of “atmosphere” (the Lagoon islands), history and art: a city built on the water, for centuries (between the 10th and the 17th) the Mediterranean's most flourishing maritime and commercial power, source of valuable works of architecture, art, literature – Venice alone requires at least a week to be even partially experienced and understood by visitors. Agriturist has selected 16 possible farmhouses in the province of Venice, to allow guests to visit “La Serenissima” (this was the name of the maritime Republic of Venice) while enjoying peaceful relaxation in the nearby countryside. But farm stays in Veneto aren't limited to Venice... Venice is just the beginning!

VERONA
We can't mention farm stays in Veneto without speaking of Verona, for example; this city on the Adige river (the second-longest river in Italy after the Po), just a short distance from Lake Garda, was the setting for William Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet” and is truly beautiful – for the Roman arena (1st century A.D.) where great lyrical performances are still put on, for its Medieval and Renaissance buildings (like Castelvecchio) and the Gothic or Renaissance-style churches (like St. Anastasia and St. Giorgio in Braida, respectively). Agriturist has selected about 20 possible farmhouses in Verona.  >>

PADOVA
The farm stay enthusiast shouldn't forget Padua, with its Basilica of Saint'Anthony, adorned with valuable bronze works by Donatello, who also created the monument to Gattamelata, an important military commander for the Republic of Venice.

VICENZA
an authentic architectural jewel. Andrea Palladio, a renowned Venetian architect who also built many of the famous villas that can still be admired in the Veneto countryside, contributed to the founding of Vicenza.

Like Treviso, Belluno and Rovigo, all provincial capitals; Monselice (with its walk along the hill that towers above the city, with its Castle, the Duomo Vecchio and the Sanctuary of Seven Churches), Marostica (with its giant chessboard in Piazza Castello where a “live chess” game in costume is played the second weekend in September in even years), or Montagnana (which boasts  picturesque old city walls and is also renowned for the excellent Veneto Berico Euganeo PDO – Protected Designation of Origin – ham).
